It's a slow saturday,

- Sepultura signs to nuclear blast records, proving that extensive tours of European festivals (by legendary bands that have- barely an original member-) pays off. New Sepultura album probably due 2011.

- Dimmu Borgir released the artwork for their up coming album in stages, i don't know what the motive behind this was, as it seemed to be over and done with, within a week- i guess they must've got the idea from 90's cool guys koRn (to whom dimmu are playing in direct support of through europe, in september/october)

- Former 8foot-ians The Mark of Man are due to release their debut album "Meat is for Pussies" no no, i'm sorry i think it's actually self titled, and therefore called "The Mark of Man" on July 19th via Deadboy records/universal.
They recently shot a video for the song Definitions, and supported Akaname at the Kings Arms the other thursday (Which I was at). They played track 8 at that Akaname show, and I was certain i'd heard that particular name before, a quick google memory jog leads me to think if in future they're gonna have tracks called "Kill Me Quickly" and "Day One". Stay tuned to the hfhshow, as I'll be talking to someone from "The Mark of Man" about their new album.
Track listing for the album:
1. Exordium
2. The Albatross
3. Bête Noire
4. Like Broken Bones
5. Sleepwalkers (addendum)
6. Breath of the Penitent Man
7. Death to Monsanto
8. Misadventures in Self Surgery
9. Bastille
10. Definitions
11. We Sever the Hand that Feeds
12. Epilogue

- Megadeth front man, Dave Mustaine, is releasing an autobiography. Obviously not satisfied with blabbermouth (& co) as a mouth piece to portray how cool/right he is, his book will no doubt be a prime example of his reborn-christian-rockstar/american stylings. I just wonder how much he tries to make himself out to be the jesus figure.

- Ozzfest, in the states, is returning and probably has an awesome lineup, just like the millions of other big tour packages that race through Europe and the states. Stay tuned to rock radio to hear brief/ vague information about the bands but potentially minute by minute updates regarding the Ozzmans health & whether or not he's gonna play when he's meant to(i.e. last act of the night), or earlier in the day/afternoon.

- Zimmers Hole. A band for whom i love mainly/only their latest album. It's been a few years since that release though, and one wonders what the members are up to. Drummer Gene Hoglan is busy, being every where (& awesome) bassist Byron Stroud (who I'll be inverviewing soon i'm getting closer to Devin Townsend- I've talked to bands he's produced albums for & guys who're in bands with SYL members, now a (former) SYL member, Yes!) is similarly all over the place- but according to the bands myspace page- the front man "The Heathen" Chris Valagao has joined Formerly NZ now Vancouver based West of Hell.
Wikipedia says Valagao has been apart of, pretty much all of Strapping Young Lads recordings, 3 Zimmer hole albums, some non-SYL Devin Townsend work and more, so a vocalist of such callibre joining the band (that i saw a few times, with no vocalist) is understandable- but begs the question, did the guys in West of Hell have to suck a 1000 miles of cock to get Valagao?.....

Metallica announces an addition NZ show- in Christchurch: press release.

here's the press release..

CHRISTCHURCH SHOW ANNOUNCED

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 22

Recognizing the insatiable demand which lead to virtual instant sell outs of their two Auckland Vector Arena concerts, leaving many fans lamenting, über rock gods Metallica have agreed to an additional New Zealand concert ……in Christchurch!

Tonight the band issued the following statement to their fans….

Sometimes You Do Get What You Want!

You asked (okay, demanded!) and we heard ya. When we got wind of the massive petitions for us to come to Christchurch, New Zealand we just had to check it out . . . and wow, the number of requests were overwhelming! So, the moral of the story is to be careful what you wish for . . . because 'Tallica is coming to your town on September 22 at CBS Canterbury Arena!

Now here's the catch - our production team scoped it out over the last couple of weeks and no matter how hard we tried to re-configure it, the bottom line is the CBS Canterbury Arena is just not equipped to handle the in the round "Death Magnetic" show that we've been carting around the world on this tour. That's not going to stop us, but we wanted to let you know that we will not be able to bring the full set up that you may have seen in photos on the site or will see if you happen to hit another show in New Zealand or Australia. It's gonna be us and YOU old-school "club style" in an arena making a whole lot of noise together, and that's what counts.

Thanks for all the love and support . . . see you in September!

Metallica will now begin the first leg of their Australasian ‘World Magnetic Tour’ in Melbourne on September 15 and 16, before heading onto Sydney on September 18, then to Christchurch.

The band will then continue on to Japan for major stadium dates there, before returning to Australasia in October and November for their 15 sold out arena shows.

Taking to the stage for more than two hours Metallica will feature material drawn from throughout their career including their current album Death Magnetic.
