NZ show: Lamb of God, The Black Dahlia Murder, Unearth

What seems like the first (of what will hopefully be many) Soundwave 2012 sideshows in NZ has been announced. Headliner, Lamb of God would have only just played in Perth with the traveling alternative music fest, a mere 2 days prior to their NZ show.

The Black Dahlia Murder and Unearth have no announcements regarding Soundwave (that I've heard) but it would be kinda sweet for any kiwi's heading over, if all bands on this NZ show were also at soundwave....

NOTE: By the time of the gig all these bands will, or should have new albums out: LOG- working on it now, or around the time of that New York hurricane/ the 911 tenth anniversary. Black Dahlia Murder :"Ritual", Unearth:"Darkness in the light"

Metal isolationists, or elitists or internet metal warriors or "I'm not listening to these bands because I've read about them in Metal Hammer mag/blabbermouth etc rather than judging them based on an unbiased, self-made opinion of how I feel about their music" types will have crap to say about this show, and that's all I have to say about that: my goal for this paragraph was the use of isolationists and the itallicised statement..

I might sound like I'm showing my age in a youthful way, but Lamb of God vocalist, D. Randal Bythe was the subject of my 1st phone interview not long after I took over the reigns of hardfastheavy back in 2006, since then I've also phone interviewed Mark Morton and John Campbell, but none of the Adler brothers. I've seen the band perform in Aussie in '06 and all times in NZ. Randy was also a judge at this years GWAR-B.Q.

I'm loving the Black Dahlia Murder's latest album, "Ritual" & I have a pic on this website of myself with BDM drummer Shannon Lucas from when they performed at the Kings Arms for the 1st time,  that seems to be popular.

1st Announcement for Soundwave 2012

Picking and choosing out of the first announcement makes me feel better about starting the mammoth (for me that is) effort of saving up for air and gig tix.

I think over all this sould be good, (off the top of my head) there are a number of bands who will be touring on a new album- some newer than others of course: Lamb of god, Meshuggah, Gojira are (or are rumoured to be) working on new albums, Steel panther have a new album out shortly, and devin townsend, Trivium, Machinehead, Times of Grace, Hellyeah (I think), Chimaira, Turisas, all have new or recent albums.

Other factors: Coal chamber are reuniting, as are Slipknot,

SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT, LIMP BIZKIT, MARYLIN MANSON, HOLE, A DAY TO REMEMBER, MACHINE HEAD, LAMB OF GOD, TRIVIUM, ALTER BRIDGE, LOSTPROPHETS, ANGELS & AIRWAVES, COBRA STARSHIP, THE USED, YOU ME AT SIX, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, UNWRITTEN LAW, COAL CHAMBER, DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL,THURSDAY, FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS, RAISED FIST, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, ZAKK WYLDE’S BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, MASTODON, UNDEROATH, SAVES THE DAY, CIRCA SURVIVE, STEEL PANTHER, JACK'S MANNEQUIN, MESHUGGAH, THE SISTERS OF MERCY, ENTER SHIKARI, FOUR YEAR STRONG, BLACK VEIL BRIDES, MADINA LAKE, ZEBRAHEAD, HATEBREED, BIOHAZARD, TIMES OF GRACE, CKY, STREET DOGS, DRAGONFORCE, GOJIRA, KVELERTAK, LETLIVE, HELLYEAH, CRO-MAGS, THE CAB, RELIENT K, VERSA EMERGE, HEROES FOR HIRE, KILL HANNAH, THE DANGEROUS SUMMER, CHIMAIRA, FRAMING HANLEY, WATAIN, ROYAL REPUBLIC, I AM THE AVALANCHE, TURISAS, RIVER CITY EXTENSION.

Sleepin Brains, Sonic Alter & some other guys at Kings Arms Oct 21st.

80's inspired Heavy Metallers Sleepin Brains and Sonic Alter support a band by the name of "Shotgun Alley" Oct 21st at the Kings Arms.
I'm sure I've probably heard of shotgun alley, by name not any songs or nothing, but from this poster it looks like everyone in the band wants to be a rock-star-frontman but from different era's/genres/bands...

New DTP music vid; he is so omniscient..

Features the man himself, Devin Townsend acting opposite a much more naked and older version of himself (the older/crazy gentleman appears to have Mr Townsends tattoos)

Although with the likes of Ziltoid driving the train, I'd probably end up riding across from a much older and nakeder version of myself

Whitechapel cancel Nz show

If you bought tickets online, you probably already know, but please spread the news to anyone and everyone you know who may have bought a ticket, especially those traveling in from out of town

"It is with sincere disappointment that RW Entertainment must announce that WHITECHAPEL's one-off New Zealand appearance on Thursday September 22nd at The Basement in Auckland has been cancelled in the wake of the ongoing fallout surrounding the cancellation of the Soundwave Revolution festival circuit in Australia.

Despite previous categorical assurances from Whitechapel's management and booking representatives that the show was still "100%" on track to proceed, it has since transpired that the band's Australian promoters were unable or unwilling to continue to provide for their appearances in that market, and the band have been left with no option but to cancel their Australasian dates altogether.

The cancellation is particularly disappointing in that the show was receiving such positive ongoing feedback from fans and was selling extremely well - particularly after it was switched to The Basement to accommodate an all ages crowd. We have no doubt this would have been one of the premier metal club shows of the year in New Zealand, and having to cancel less than four weeks out is a bitter pill to swallow indeed.

Full refunds will be available from the respective points of purchase. Alternatively, all Whitechapel tickets purchased through UnderTheRadar can be directly exchanged for tickets to THE WORD ALIVE's two New Zealand appearances during the same week (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=217798754910361). Anyone wishing to transfer tickets over has until Wednesday September 7th to do so, before refunds are processed in full.

RW Entertainment would like to extend their most sincere apologies to the fans, ticket-holders, support acts and presentation partners for any inconvenience caused by this announcement, and hope that everyone understands that the circumstances leading to this cancellation were beyond our control and that of Whitechapel and their management."
