Heavy Metal Wanaka: Podcasts
To summarise: I was on 95bfm as host of the Hard Fast Heavy Show for a good number of years, and this blog used to have the URL 'hardfastheavy.com'.
Since then I've moved to the incredibly scenic town of Wanaka in N.Z's South Island, and set up shop as heavymetalwanaka.com with podcast, music show, youtube channel and more social media pages than anyone has need of.
This old blog was just sitting there gathering dust, so I thought I'd go through and re-tag the many hundreds of posts I did during my time on radio as "An old Hard Fast Heavy post", which would leave me space (I guess) to add more current posts about what I'm doing at the moment, which I'll tag as "Heavy Metal Wanaka- it's what I do now" As an example of this- I've embedded a youtube playlist of my new podcast at the top of this post..

West of Hell on the Hard Fast & heavy show
Chris "the Heathen" Valagao was up with West of Hell on the hard fast heavy show!! (Feb 25th)
The Heathen's worked a lot with Devin Townsend, even took three quarters of SYL to bring forth Zimmers Hole's last album.
Anyone who's listened to the show over the last 6 years knows I'm a huge fan of Devin Townsend's work and of the last Zimmers Hole album, so having him randomly turn up was a most excellent surprise.

A Life Once Lost Interview
Early this morning (a Tuesday- after being up late for the show..) I gave Bob Meadows (vocalist) from A Life Once Lost a call- lucky for him, it was a comfortable time in the afternoon in the states.

Dino Cazares, Fear Factory Interview
Fear Factory are due to play NZ on the 22nd of September 2012, having released their 8th studio album "The Industrialist" earlier in the year.
When I talked to Dino, on the phone, he'd already spent most of the year touring, was on the East Coast of the US mere hours away from taking the stage, at a gig also featuring Soulfly.

How’s life with you at the moment, and Fear Factory?
Everything’s going great, we’ve just been really busy,
we’ve been on the road supporting the new album, and we’ve been touring pretty
much almost world wide- we’re going to South America again- we’ve been there
earlier this year, we did a US tour, we did a European tour. We’re currently on
another US tour, then we’ll be in Japan, New Zealand, Australia then another
European tour then that’s it for this year. Next year we start up again.
Doing my research I noticed, not sure if you’re on tour
with, but you had a show or two with Soulfly, that’s gotta be pretty cool with
Max [Cavalera] being an old buddy…
yeah, well we have a show, well we had a show this past
week with Soulfly, we have a show tonight with Soulfly and then we have a show
this Saturday with Soulfly, so we’re doing a few shows together. Yeah, it’s
great.
I just want to say that earlier on in the year, a couple
of months back you toured with, as a support, this NZ band Legacy of Disorder-
was supporting you,
Yes, that was the beginning of the world tour, yes.
As a New Zealander I just want to know what you thought
of them, just to make sure they were being good, honest hard working kiwi
metalheads.
Ha ha, yeah,
they’re a great band I mean they came all the way out here, just got in an R.V
and they said Hey lets do it and I commend them for that, for coming so far out
from New Zealand, and they sounded really good, had a really thrash, kind of
cool Testament vibe to them. They were cool, I like them a lot.
I it helps with your brief stop in NZ to get used to the
accents..

haha, there you go. I said touring with a NZ band helps
with our accents.
Oh accents, yeah. It’s quite different between Australia
and New Zealand- there’s a difference there.Aaaaye! Finally, someone from outside of the region understands!.

Speaking of NZ, you’re doing a show here on the 22nd
September. Basic question- are you looking forward to coming to NZ?
Oh hell yeah. Last time was a year or two ago, a couple
of years ago with Metallica. Yeah, and I remember when we were there they just
had just missed the Earthquake that happened like a week or two before. It was
pretty crazy seeing a lot of the buildings that had fallen down, stuff like
that, but of course we’re kind of used to it being from California [i.e. San
Andreas Fault]- we get earthquakes all the time.
Is this trip to NZ gonna be a no-nonsense fly-in fly-out
type trip, or do you get a bit of time to look around?
I don’t think we’re gonna have that much time. We fly in
straight from Japan, the day before, play a show the next day, fly right back
out to Brisbane. But I’ve spent some time out there before. This is atleast out
eighth or maybe tenth time in New Zealand, maybe more. We love NZ, NZ was one
of the places, along with Australia that really got into Fear Factory right
away, you know way back in the early days- from our first album, ‘Soul of a New
Machine’. The kiwis are very lovely.
We love having you.. After you’re done with us, you’re
off to Europe with Devin Townsend, despite being a dream line-up for me, that’s
gotta be a pretty sweet touring with an old pal like Devin?
Well, yeah- we’ve known Devin way before strapping young
lad even existed. When I first met him, I believe was like 1991 or ‘90, ‘91
something around there- he was playing with Steve Vai, singing in the Steve Vai
band and we kind of hit it off from there and we’ve been friends ever since,
it’s just we finally decided to tour together and it’s going to be great. I
know that ticket sales are doing really well in Europe for that tour and we’re
really excited.
You’ve had a couple of Strapping Young Lad members come
and go..
Yeah, we had Byron Stroud and Gene Hoglan, they were once
in fear Factory at one point. But they decided to do other things. Obviously,
Gene Hoglan, if anyone knows his history he’s in quite a few bands, he’s in
everybody’s band pretty much. And Byron decided to stay with his Canadian
brothers, Three Inches of Blood.
Who’ve you got at the moment, you’ve got Matt DeVries
[ex-Chimaira] filling in on bass and I understand a Mike Heller is on drums.
Yes, we have a guy called Mike Heller on drums, he comes
from a band called Malignancy you can look it up on youtube you can see a lot
of his work it’s pretty intense.
How’ve the new guys been filling in for you?
Oh great, we only pick the best.
You mentioned your new album, ‘The Industrialist’, I
managed to get hold of it, unfortunately it’s not available here on iTunes, I
haven’t checked in stores, it’s a pretty stomping album, tell me it’s been
getting good reviews..
Well, it’s definitely been getting good reviews of course
but every record you put out, this goes for every artist, there’s always gonna
be people who love it and people who don’t love it, that’s just how it is,
you’re not gonna make everybody happy. But besides that, we’ve been having an
amazing response, the album is doing well, it’s doing well all across the
world. I know it’s in Australia itunes, I know NZ’s completely different but I
know it’s on Australia Itunes, I’ll look into that, I’ll ask my manager why
it’s not available there.
You’ve got Rhy’s Fulber helping you out, I ask because
you’ve got a bit of that experimental thing going on but on the track “God
Eater” I think I heard a some dubstep type samples used in there?
Yeah, ‘God Eater’ was one of those songs that we just, it
was kind of like a throw back to when we first started- even before “Soul of a
new Machine” me and Burton were writing a lot of songs, in our bedroom, we used
to share a one bedroom apartment on Hollywood boulevard and we would write
songs on a little eight track recorder. That song [God Eater] kind of reminds
us of when we first started.
Was the rest of the album put together in a similar way-
just you and Burton working on it?
Yeah, that’s kind of the approach was for this one. Gene was busy doing other stuff, we didn’t have a drummer and we didn’t really have time to find another drummer, there was a lot of pressure to get this record done, of course record labels always want it at a certain time. So we decided to recruit one of our really good friends, his name is John Sankey, he is from Brisbane, Australia and we decided to use him- he’s a drummer in a band called ‘Devolved’ and he helped us programme a lot of the beats on the computer. So, that’s pretty much how we wrote the record.

Being from New Zealand, land mass the size of Britian but
a hundredth the population and [in comparison] the States being incomprehensible to me.
If you had a good show and were so inclined are the states an inexhaustible
tour market?
It’s still a killer tour market for us. Other parts of
the world are obviously bigger, like South America and parts of Europe and
certain places like that. But America’s a great place for us to tour that’s why
we spend a lot of time here. Plus there’s so many places to play, we got fifty
states to choose from ad some of these cities have five different venues for
you to choose from to play at.

There’s no way I’m gonna miss out on your show here at
the Powerstation. The first time I saw you was about ten years ago at the same
place.
[laughs] yeah, there is a place to play?
It’s gonna be an awesome show, a massive turnout and I
hope you enjoy it as much as we do and thanks for talking to me.
We’re going to have a great time, can’t wait to go there

Satchel (Steel Panther) interview
I was recently awarded the opportunity to talk (on the phone) to Steel Panther guitarist, Satchel. If you know the band- you probably have a idea of how my interview was.
I have to admit that sitting on the other end of the line, I found it incredibly funny (and rude) so I'll be playing snippets on the hard fast & heavy show leading up to playing the full thing & afterwards I'll make sure to post up a transcript, and maybe more if you're lucky.
The band will be rocking NZ audiences in Early October, in fact, on the second which is a tuesday, 'cos the heavy metal mayhem of Steel Panther cares not for the working week..

Dino (Fear Factory) Interview
This morning I had a (phone) interview with Dino Cazares, guitarist for the legendary Fear Factory.
They're on tour at the moment, on the East Coast of the US with Soulfly, then they're off to South America (possibly also with Soulfly).
After they finish with NZ and Australia, by way of Japan, they're touring Europe with their ol' mate Devin Townsend, they've known each other way back since Devin's Steve Vai days.
Come September the 22nd they play at the Powerstation in Auckland New Zealand, site of their show almost 10years ago- where I first saw them. It was not long after that show, apart of their Digimortal 'Can't Take me Apart' tour, that internal disagreements broke the band up.

Hfhshow interviews Opeth
I just got off the phone with Martin Mendez, Bass player for the mighty Opeth. We'll air the interview in August; so stay tuned for more info on that.
The band will be releasing their tenth album (7th for Mendez) "Heritage" on September 16th via Roadrunner Records, and are currently on the festival circuit in Europe, having played at Bonaroo, Hellfest, Graspoop and a couple of Sonisphere dates amongst others so far during June/July.
I had a chance to stream/listen to the album and think that Opeth fans will like it, but if your music diet consists of nothing but death metal; it may not be your thing.. I liked it, it'll take me a few proper listens to fully grasp it, but I like it.

Scurvy Dogs interview
Ahead of their Auckland show at the Rising Sun, supporting Scots Alestorm, we talk to Iain aka Chap'n Shag, guitarist/backing vocals for Dunedin Pirate rockers Scurvy Dog.
Chap'n Shag has since informed me that the lads had a wicked time in Auckland with Alestorm, no doubt many acts of yarrrrrggggg piracy were committed, and a good number of their live CD, "Doggie Style" were sold, so they're creeping into Auckland.
HFH: How's your slice of paradise?
Shag: Yarrrgh, this is Iain from the Scurvy Dogs, Chap'n Shag, umm, Yeah, Scurvy Dogs are all go at the moment. We're coming up to Auckland to play with Alestorm, Sinate and Just One Fix, and that's Sunday the 15th at the Rising Sun, so we're really looking forward to that- it's going to be an awesome show, especially with Alestorm, 1st time in NZ & they're a good band.
What's the story behind Scurvy Dogs?
We've been going for about 6years, we started in the Navy Reserve down here in Dunedin 'cos 3 of the original members were in the Navy & that's how we got the nautical theme, with the pirates, and we just developed it from there really, so I'm the only one currently in the Navy Reserve, so we've changed members. Yeah, no we like the theme of piracy 'cos it's good fun & Rock, you can rock out to it. It fits our philosophy of music quite well, 'cos we're a good fun band, great live show, we have great fun playing live & it's all sweaty, fast and hard stuff, it suits our theme.
I guess being in the Navy, do you get any jip for being in a band that would be a real life example of what would be counter to what you do as a job.
No, the other guys like it, they come to quite a few of our shows. I suppose it is a bit of a strange one to be a pirate band, but we're historical Pirates we're not the new kinda pirates, with AK-47s and rocket launchers, so we're kind of a romantic band. We like the style of the 1780's and things like that.
I haven't heard much of you guys up to this point, with Alestorm etc, is that just 'cos of my "blinkered Auckland ears have been ignorant to you guys" or is it that you haven't ventured too far north?
No, in 2006 we did an Orientation tour up 2 weeks, up and down NZ, doing loads of orientation shows. We played Kings Arms as well, that too, but that was 2006. Actually we playe with Midnight Youth, that supported us back in 2006, at Albany university- one of their orientation things, that was quite interesting. But yeah, we haven't done much in the North Island so far, but Alestorm's coming up and we're also doing another show in Auckland in September with another metal band from Australia called Claim the Throne, that's going to be at the Kings Arms, so we're heading up your way, 'cos we've been around the South Island several times and we want to hit Auckland and Wellington. Speard the word, 'cos there's no other band like us in Dunedin, uh, sorry not in Dunedin, definitely not in Dunedin, uh in New Zealand, we're unique. It'll be good for you guys to see us, Experience the Scurvy Dogs.
Obviously, your next big thing, Alestorm next sunday, similarity of theme aside, how did you land the gig?
How'd we get into it? I've followed Alestorm for a couple of years, 'cos they're one of my favourite bands & when i saw that they were coming to Auckland, when it was annonced I found out who the promoter was and sent my cheeky emails saying, 'being NZ's premier Pirate band, you know, we what to play with you, with Alestorm', he asked for some music & bio and I sent him all that off and he said straight back 'yep sounds good, so yeah that's how we did it, a bit cheeky but it worked. Same with Claim the Throne, he's the same promoter doing that. Should be an awesome show, epic.
I know a wee bit about Claim the throne, maybe have a new record out, but they're more 'battle metal'
yeah, battle metal. There's some good videos from them. I like that kind of style, they should be good fun to play with, and they're playing in Dunedin as well, and possibly Queenstown. We'll be playing with them, certainly in Dunedin the night before the Auckland show in September. I'm looking forward to that, they're awesome.

The new live cd is called "Doggy Style", which is quite funny, & it was recorded last year in October at the Captain Cook tavern down here in Dunedin which is quite famous for all the students. It was a recording of an E.P release party for an E.P we did last year called "Loyal to None". The sound guy who does it, Ian Sweetman (?), who's brilliant, we actually recorded it & thought it was good enought to make into a live CD. So we've just done that & it's quite Epic, it's awesome, I really like how it turned out & that's available now and we'll be bringing those up to Alestorm to sell for only $15, so come and buy one 'cos it's awesome. Now, speaking of your website it states "Rum, women and piracy are favoured themes..." the question I gotta ask is, Do these themes and lyrics stem from real life ?
>laughs< some of them do, 'cos we got a definite pirate thing going on but we also sing about real life, in a way, one of our best live songs is called "Home from the war" which is an ANZAC tribute song & we've done a few personal songs that have nothing to do with piracy, so there's a real mix there, some of the themes are definitely from what we get up to when we play gigs, like the Rum, wine women >laughs< we enjoy ourselves, yeah it's just good fun music that's quite hard and serious, in a way.
You guys are pirate rock, there's Pirate metal out there and some people are on the case that it's more a theme than it's own sub-genre, what's your stand point on that?
On our website we've got a good quote of what Pirate Rock is, I'll just read it out 'cos it sums us up quite well and it's a definite genre, 'Pirate rock is a type of celtic music, sea shanty, punk, metal and classic rock all blended together' that's sums us up. We're a real mixture, so taking the pirate theme we steal lots of good bits from other genres and sort of mold it all together to make it into a unique sound. All Pirate rock is unique 'cos of that blend- no two pirate rock bands sound the same & I've listened to quite a few around the world; there's quite a few in America, there used to be two in Australia, don't think there's anyone else in NZ, yeah. I definitely think pirate rock [is a genre], which is different from Pirate metal, although there's a definite cross over.
Chap'n Shag has since informed me that the lads had a wicked time in Auckland with Alestorm, no doubt many acts of yarrrrrggggg piracy were committed, and a good number of their live CD, "Doggie Style" were sold, so they're creeping into Auckland.
HFH: How's your slice of paradise?
Shag: Yarrrgh, this is Iain from the Scurvy Dogs, Chap'n Shag, umm, Yeah, Scurvy Dogs are all go at the moment. We're coming up to Auckland to play with Alestorm, Sinate and Just One Fix, and that's Sunday the 15th at the Rising Sun, so we're really looking forward to that- it's going to be an awesome show, especially with Alestorm, 1st time in NZ & they're a good band.
What's the story behind Scurvy Dogs?
We've been going for about 6years, we started in the Navy Reserve down here in Dunedin 'cos 3 of the original members were in the Navy & that's how we got the nautical theme, with the pirates, and we just developed it from there really, so I'm the only one currently in the Navy Reserve, so we've changed members. Yeah, no we like the theme of piracy 'cos it's good fun & Rock, you can rock out to it. It fits our philosophy of music quite well, 'cos we're a good fun band, great live show, we have great fun playing live & it's all sweaty, fast and hard stuff, it suits our theme.
I guess being in the Navy, do you get any jip for being in a band that would be a real life example of what would be counter to what you do as a job.
No, the other guys like it, they come to quite a few of our shows. I suppose it is a bit of a strange one to be a pirate band, but we're historical Pirates we're not the new kinda pirates, with AK-47s and rocket launchers, so we're kind of a romantic band. We like the style of the 1780's and things like that.
I haven't heard much of you guys up to this point, with Alestorm etc, is that just 'cos of my "blinkered Auckland ears have been ignorant to you guys" or is it that you haven't ventured too far north?
No, in 2006 we did an Orientation tour up 2 weeks, up and down NZ, doing loads of orientation shows. We played Kings Arms as well, that too, but that was 2006. Actually we playe with Midnight Youth, that supported us back in 2006, at Albany university- one of their orientation things, that was quite interesting. But yeah, we haven't done much in the North Island so far, but Alestorm's coming up and we're also doing another show in Auckland in September with another metal band from Australia called Claim the Throne, that's going to be at the Kings Arms, so we're heading up your way, 'cos we've been around the South Island several times and we want to hit Auckland and Wellington. Speard the word, 'cos there's no other band like us in Dunedin, uh, sorry not in Dunedin, definitely not in Dunedin, uh in New Zealand, we're unique. It'll be good for you guys to see us, Experience the Scurvy Dogs.
Obviously, your next big thing, Alestorm next sunday, similarity of theme aside, how did you land the gig?
How'd we get into it? I've followed Alestorm for a couple of years, 'cos they're one of my favourite bands & when i saw that they were coming to Auckland, when it was annonced I found out who the promoter was and sent my cheeky emails saying, 'being NZ's premier Pirate band, you know, we what to play with you, with Alestorm', he asked for some music & bio and I sent him all that off and he said straight back 'yep sounds good, so yeah that's how we did it, a bit cheeky but it worked. Same with Claim the Throne, he's the same promoter doing that. Should be an awesome show, epic.
I know a wee bit about Claim the throne, maybe have a new record out, but they're more 'battle metal'
yeah, battle metal. There's some good videos from them. I like that kind of style, they should be good fun to play with, and they're playing in Dunedin as well, and possibly Queenstown. We'll be playing with them, certainly in Dunedin the night before the Auckland show in September. I'm looking forward to that, they're awesome.

Max Cavalera Interview!!
Earlier today I received an email asking if I want to interview (via phone) Max Cavalera as the new Cavalera Conspiracy album, "Blunt Force Trauma" is being released in NZ next Monday.
I am rather excited about this. All going well, I'll play the interview on the show; Monday 28th March.

GWAR's Oderus Urungus Interview Transcript.
Dale, host of the Hard Fast and Heavy show calls Oderus Urungus from the band GWAR, on the 26th October 2010 about many things, including their appearance at No Sleep til Auckland. Aired on the show on the 1st of November 2010.
ODERUS: Hello!
DALE: Hi, this is Dale speaking from New Zealand, am I speaking to... the ... man from GWAR?
ODERUS: Yes, yes, you're talking to Oderus from GWAR.
DALE: Oderus from GWAR, so how has your time with GWAR been?
ODERUS: Well right now we're engaged in a... act of assault against the population of the planet Earth through our musical, metallic, mutated, mayhem, metal horror show! Our new album is out next month! The Bloody Pit of Horror! We're currently on tour in the United States, getting ready for that cataclysmic event, and getting ready to come to New Zealand and Australia for the very first time and expose the peoples of your fair countries To... The... Sickest.. Band... In Rock n Roll History!
DALE: Excellent, now: you're in Ohio at the moment and tomorrow you're gonna be in East St Louis, I'm assuming the states is a big place, so it must help being a war-mongering space alien with all the travel you have to do?
ODERUS: Oh no, we enjoy it. Allot of people don't realise the human cities are linked with sub-terrainian tunnels that honey comb your planet, and there's often a very convenient, kind of, like, little jet cars you can drive around on. So, we've got a whole system underneath the planet where we just kind of pop up from various cave entrances, right before we play. Doesn't seem like a lot of time goes by.
DALE: Sweet, so coming to New Zealand isn't gonna be a problem then?
ODERUS: Not at all, and it's just, uh... it's really all we've ever done with our lives, is go from one place to another, you know, set up our war camp, begin our savage sounds, draw in the humans, slaughter them, fight giant robots, and finally feed our pet dinosaur Gor-gor. So everything is going to be wonderful, we'll just have to see what happens when we get to New Zealand: there's always some super-powered A-Hole trying to shut the party down, that we have to deliver some swift kicks to the ass.
DALE: Hell yeah, now recently you were Grand Marshall at the Toronto zombie walk & awarded Harvard Lampoon's Most Terrible vile disgusting disturbed yet revoltingly awesome band ever: such things must be quite the ego rush for you..
ODERUS: No, not really. I see them as completely meaningless accolades, bestowed upon us by a retarded child, and that would be the human race, that we created by fucking apes- I might remind you of that. So, uh, pitiful attempts to assuage our boundless wrath and, you know, if they think you're gonna get off any easier because of these awards they keep heaping on us, they are completely wrong.
DALE: Now as you mentioned, you have "Bloody Pit of Horror" coming out soon, and I personally couldn't get enough of "Beyond Hell" and thought "Lust in Space" was pretty cool, do you think I'm gonna enjoy your new album?
ODERUS: Yes I do, I think people are really gonna enjoy it, like all GWAR albums it sounds completely different to the one before it, but it's heavy as hell and even tuned down and very extra nasty to the point where it literally sounds like the guitars are throwing up- in a good way. But anyway, it's a throbbing pulsating kinda sound, it's a very dirty, very nasty sound. I think people are really gonna enjoy it.
DALE: What is the process of putting together a GWAR album? I imagine it being rather sticky and involving more than a few human sacrifices...
ODERUS: Well, it's very violent. You know, a lot of fighting and arguments, breaking of equipment over peoples heads, and stuff like that. But at the end of the day we've got our metal, you know we just get in there and yell and scream at each other and they record that and they make music out of it. I'm not sure what the hell it is, I just know we get there in front of the people, plug those guitars in and everything goes crazy!
DALE: Awesome, you're coming to New Zealand on a big tour package that's headlined by Megadeth, is there anything, mudslinging you can say about him, Dave Mustaine?
ODERUS: I haven't met him yet, so I'm not going to talk shit about him until i have the chance to observe his habitat. Actually, I have to admit I'm actually quite a big Megadeth fan and I'm really looking forward to seeing him play on this tour, so I'm gonna save my mudslinging for Rob Zombie and Lordi.
DALE: Excellent, generic question here, but are you looking forward to slaying a Kiwi crowd?
ODERUS: Yes, we fully expect kiwis to taste different, we've heard you're 9 feet tall, that should be interesting. You know, it's a new eco-system to destroy and hopefully the entire island.
DALE: I understand you were trapped in a frozen tomb down in Antarctica, given New Zealands close proximity to your former prison, is that a reason why you haven't been here before?
ODERUS: Well, we went straight from Antarctica to America, we were flown there by our manager Sleazy P. Martini, we've been living there pretty much ever since. We tried to get to New Zealand a few times, but we simply got lost- it wasn't until Google Earth that we managed to figure out this world geography, kinda thing. So, after 25 years of searching we've finally gonna make it.
DALE: Excellent, Now we are the land of the "Lord of the Rings" has or will your tour manager try and steer you away from partying, or slaying too many Orcs?
ODERUS: Actually, you know, we were hoping to face-rape some Hobbits. That's just kind of a tradition in the GWAR camp, is to take Hobbits and rape their faces off, fill those chubby little cheeks with our filthy man-prods, rooting about in retched abandonment and just chewing these Hobbits faces off. Few creatures deserve death more than those little fuzzy footed fucks.
DALE: So I take it, you're not a fan of Elijah Wood?
ODERUS: Oh... Oh he's such a... No i Don't Like Him At All!
DALE: (laughs) I noticed your shows integrate quite a few elements [i.e political], not just the crazy metal thing, in a country, you're heading to New Zealand were we've have 2 female leaders, Rastafarian, gay and trans-gender members of parliament [i.e different to the United States] is that something GWAR could work with?
ODERUS: Oh.. I salute the people of New Zealand for having trans-gender council members I encourage them to have more trans-animal, kinda necrophiliac, bestial activity. Making our animal friends happy, by giving them public sex in government buildings. Animals are often made to live out-doors, in little sticks, like little houses made of sticks and stuff, it's terribly unfair, and, uh, dogs do appreciate it when you suck them off. I'd like to see more of that for the people of New Zealand and hopefully after our show we will bring this to you people, the gift of necrophiliac, anal, bestial, dead dog sex.
DALE: I don't suppose you've heard the sheep shagging jokes, down here?
ODERUS: Oh, we heard all about it, and we're hoping it's true.
DALE: I noticed you seem to have quite a sense of occasion, I'm referring to your appearances on Fox news as compared to a youtube video interview I saw with you swearing your mouth off.
ODERUS:Well, they do give me tranquilisers before I appear on the air and they throw a big metal canvas kind of chain mail blanket over the Cuttlefish of Cthulu. So yes they've managed to knock me down a peg or two, but quite frankly the drugs and the sex and the power that I get from appearing on Fox news, and the parties later with Bill O'Reily, CIA opperatives Osama binladen, it more than makes up for it. They're pretty much gonna to cut out whatever I say that doesn't work for them anyway, so I just try... I play my mental.. i play my little game with them, you know. I think I get away with some pretty edgy shit, but you will notice I am the most foul mouthed person on the show and huge sections of my appearences are usually silent.

Upcoming interview: August Burns Red
We have been awarded the opportunity to have a talk (Phone) to someone in the Pennsylvanian metalcore band August Burns Red.
Among other things, including heading off on a European tour (with a few sold out dates) very shortly, they'll be hitting our shores in December, as apart of the "No Sleep Til" Auckland
